Last week my mom, Justin, and I took the twins on an adventure to visit their Aunt Linda and their great-grandparents on a small island in McGregor Bay in Lake Huron,  Ontario, Canada.  There is no electricity and no phone service.   The cabin has a large glassed-in porch where we take our meals and watch [...]

We spent a week in Jackson Hole with a side trip to Yellowstone, visiting friends and family.  We woke up at 3 AM to start our trip, hoping that the babies would sleep on the plane.    I was still sick, although thanks to my doctor we didn’t have to cancel our trip.  It was a [...]

Well, aside from the true horror of air travel with children, the trip was wonderful.  And even the travel part wasn’t that bad, except that the door-to-door travel time was longer than 12 hours, which was very difficult for toddlers who have a hard time sitting still for any length of time.  Taking that into [...]

Trip to Santa Barbara

We had a wonderful time in Santa Barbara.  We took four days and visited Justin’s mother.  Once again, my fears about the difficulties and complications of traveling with twins were much greater than the reality.   However, I do think my preparation for contingencies helps everything go much more smoothly.   Traveling with the babies turns the [...]

Our trip to Wyoming

Cute baby discount

Although babies are expensive, and I don’t recommend having them solely to enjoy the few discounts they bring, we learned early on in our road trip to bring the whole family in when asking about prices at hotels, etc.  We received a “cute baby discount” on more than one occasion.
Another interesting thing about having twins [...]

Going back to work

I don’t mean to skip over the last of the road trip–we visited the aquarium in Newport with Karen and Allan and visited the Japanese gardens and Powell’s bookstore in Portland with Hillarie. We took the babies to a nice sushi restaurant where we had to stealthily change Ronin on the seat next to the [...]

This may be disappointing to those who would like a baby in every picture, but I wanted to show you how happy we were with this time of year.   The trees were brilliant shades of red and gold.

Ronin is so advanced

He started reading the newspaper when we were hanging out at Tom’s cabin.
Tom and Nancy have a nice cabin out in the woods.  I still have bear poop on my shoe as a souvenir I picked up while walking through the forest trails.  Justin and Tom collected wild chantarelles and Nancy made a delicious dinner [...]

Tummy time on the shore

We didn’t neglect their neck muscle development, but we also took care to not keep them in the sun too long.  Actually, we had a lot of good tummy time at the hotels.  I had packed the swings so the babies would have a good spot to hang out in the hotel rooms, but after [...]
