It’s still really early at 12 weeks and 3 days, but I had my nuchal translucency ultrasound yesterday, which is a screening test for genetic problems, and two different professionals independently looked at the ultrasound screen and told me it looks like a boy. It was a wonderful appointment. I saw ten fingers and ten [...]

Two-Year Appointment

We had our two-year appointment today. I was under the mistaken impression that they would be getting immunizations, but happily for all of us I was wrong. They were weighed and measured. Throughout the appointment, Dr. Phu kept expressing amazement at how much better Ronin was doing, weight-wise, and I did mention that we’d been [...]

Claire and Ronin had their 18-month appointment today even though they are almost 19 months old. They are nearly over their colds and they had their ears checked to rule out infection. They demonstrated very healthy yells for the doctor. They seem to be getting more and more unhappy with every visit, and this time [...]
15-month appointment, and rain, and trains

It started raining the day before Halloween and hasn’t stopped. I’ve been researching rainy-day activities, and yesterday we went to the Blue Sky Family Club for lunch and baby gym. It says it caters to families with children: “We know what it is like to take kids out – what a hassle it can be! [...]

Yes, I know they’re almost 13 months old, but we just had their one year appointment last week. They received their vaccinations without too much of a fuss, listened to advice about using sippy cups and the potty chair and brushing their teeth, and they got their heights, weights, and head circumferences checked.
Ronin is 19 [...]

You will all be happy to know, I’m sure, that the babies received a clean bill of health at their appointment. They are not anemic and their lead levels were normal. We got tested early because they are very mobile and we live in a very old house. I keep my eye out for chipping [...]

This is my Dad’s first visit with his grandchildren. He is just here for the weekend, but he’s packing a lot of baby-holding time into it.
The babies had their 4-month check-up this past week. They are growing really well and the doctor was impressed with how well Claire is rolling over. They got their second [...]
2-month checkup

We’ve been busy because Justin’s mom has been visiting, but I thought I’d give a quick update. The babies had their two-month checkup today and got a bunch of immunizations. Ronin cried real tears. So did I. Claire cried, but no tears yet. The nurse did a great job and was very quick about it. [...]

I know I haven’t been able to update since the moms arrived, but I just want to let you all know the babies had their 2 1/2-week checkup today. They have both gained weight. Claire now weighs 6 pounds 15 ounces and Ronin has been doing some major catching-up and weighs 6 pounds 8 ounces. [...]
One week old today!

Yay! We had a visit from a home health nurse and both babies have gained weight since their hospital discharge, which is wonderful news. The nurse did a brief physical exam and said they looked great.
I know certain people are checking this site every 15 minutes for updates, so I felt like I should post [...]
